One of the primary interests here is investigation of and experimentation with the various ingredients we have available to us–several of which are unusual and/or under-utilized. A significant part of the craft of homesteading is learning to make use of what is locally available, how to prepare it to eat or otherwise use, how to preserve or store it, and how to produce it.

In this section, we will present a series of articles on some of the ingredients we work with, hopefully initiating a conversation including other people’s experiences and knowledge.
