One of the pri­ma­ry inter­ests here is inves­ti­ga­tion of and exper­i­men­ta­tion with the var­i­ous ingre­di­ents we have avail­able to us–several of which are unusu­al and/or under-uti­lized. A sig­nif­i­cant part of the craft of home­steading is learn­ing to make use of what is local­ly avail­able, how to pre­pare it to eat or oth­er­wise use, how to pre­serve or store it, and how to pro­duce it.

In this sec­tion, we will present a series of arti­cles on some of the ingre­di­ents we work with, hope­ful­ly ini­ti­at­ing a con­ver­sa­tion includ­ing oth­er peo­ple’s expe­ri­ences and knowl­edge.
